APLAWCET 2024 Eligibility

3-Year LL.B. Course:

General Eligibility: Candidates must hold any Graduate Degree in the 10+2+3 pattern from a recognized University, or an equivalent qualification recognized by the concerned university.

Minimum Marks:
  • General Category: 45% aggregate
  • BC Category: 42% aggregate
  • SC/ST Category: 40% aggregate
Additional Consideration: Candidates scoring below the specified percentage must have achieved the required percentage in any subsequent graduation or post-graduation degree. For rounding off purposes, 44.5% (General), 41.5% (BC), and 39.5% (SC/ST) in graduation are treated as 45%, 42%, and 40% respectively.

5-Year LL.B. Course:

General Eligibility: Must have passed the two-year Intermediate Examination (10+2 pattern) or its equivalent as recognized by the University or the Board of Intermediate Education, A.P.

Minimum Marks:
  • General Category: 45% aggregate
  • BC Category: 42% aggregate
  • SC/ST Category: 40% aggregate
  • Rounding Off: 44.5% (General), 41.5% (BC), and 39.5% (SC/ST) in Intermediate are rounded off to 45%, 42%, and 40% respectively for admission.
  • Note: Must meet the eligibility criteria as per the Bar Council of India (BCI) regulations, which may be updated from time to time.

2-Year LL.M. Course:

Eligibility: Open to candidates with a 3-Year or 5-Year LL.B. Degree as of the application date. Candidates awaiting final year results of the LL.B. program are also eligible to apply.

Condition: Must have successfully completed the LL.B. degree meeting the necessary eligibility by the time of counseling.

Nationality and Domicile: The candidate should be an Indian National and should
satisfy Local / Non-local status requirement as laid down in the Andhra Pradesh
Educational Institutions (Regulation of Admissions) Order, 1974 and the amendments
made there from time to time.

A candidate with I.T.I as basic qualification is not eligible for appearing the LAWCET Examination. Polytechnic Diploma shall be considered as Intermediate (+2).

APLAWCET Medium of Entrance Test

The APLAWCET (3 year and 5 year LLB courses) will be conducted in English and Telugu versions and AP PGLCET (LLM courses) question paper will be in English only.

APLAWCET 2024 Exam Pattern

This examination is tailored to assess the aspirants' General Knowledge, Mental Ability, Awareness of Current Affairs, and their Aptitude for studying Law. The exam comprises three sections, totaling 120 questions, each worth one mark, with the entire test lasting 90 minutes and a maximum score of 120.
  • Part A: This section includes 30 questions on General Knowledge and Mental Ability, totaling 30 marks.
  • Part B: Another 30 questions are focused on Current Affairs, also worth 30 marks.
  • Part C: The largest section, with 60 questions dedicated to assessing the candidate's Law Study Aptitude, contributing 60 marks to the total score.
In Part C, a foundational understanding of Law principles and the Constitution of India is expected from the candidate. The difficulty level of the questions for the 5-year Law Course aligns with the Intermediate/10+2 standard, while for the 3-year Law Course, it matches the Degree Level.

The format of the questions will be multiple-choice, with each having four possible answers from which the correct one must be selected.

To qualify in the AP LAWCET-2024, candidates must achieve at least 35% of the total marks, which equates to 42 out of 120. However, there are no minimum qualifying marks set for SC and ST candidates for ranking purposes.

AP PGLCET 2024 Exam Pattern 

This exam is the gateway for LL.M. courses, featuring a single entrance test that spans 90 minutes and includes 120 multiple-choice questions, each valued at one mark. The test is divided into two primary sections:

Part-A: This segment encompasses 40 questions for a total of 40 marks, with questions on Jurisprudence and Constitutional Law, each contributing 20 marks.

Part-B: In this larger section, candidates face 80 questions worth 80 marks. It covers a wide range of legal subjects, including Public International Law, Mercantile Law, Labour Law, Crimes and Torts, and IPR and Other Laws, with each subject area accounting for 16 marks.
Candidates are required to choose the correct answer from four options provided for each question, testing their knowledge across various domains of law.

To qualify in the AP PGLCET-2024, aspirants need to score at least 25% of the total marks, which translates to 30 out of 120 marks. Importantly, there are no minimum qualifying marks for candidates belonging to the SC and ST categories for the purpose of ranking.

APLAWCET 2024 Syllabus

For APPGLCET-2024, candidates must dive deep into various facets of law, focusing primarily on Jurisprudence, Constitutional Law, Public International Law, Mercantile Law, Labour Laws, Crimes and Torts, IPR & Other laws. The syllabus is strategically divided into two parts to guide preparation:

Part-A: Jurisprudence and Constitutional Law (40 Questions, 40 Marks)

Jurisprudence (20 Questions, 20 Marks): Understand the schools of jurisprudence, sources of law (custom, precedent, and legislation), concepts of rights and duties, ownership, possession, legal persons, obligations, property, liability, and legal sanctions.

Constitutional Law (20 Questions, 20 Marks): Focus on the constitution's nature, fundamental rights, directive principles of state policy, the structure and roles of the executive, judiciary, and legislature, center-state relations, emergency provisions, and constitutional amendments.

Part-B: Diverse Fields of Law (80 Questions, 80 Marks)

Public International Law (16 Questions, 16 Marks): Examine international vs. municipal law, state territory, air, sea, and outer space laws, nationality and statelessness, extradition, asylum, state jurisdiction, and the United Nations.

Mercantile Law (16 Questions, 16 Marks): Review general principles of contracts as outlined in sections 1-75 of the Indian Contract Act, 1872.

Labour Law (16 Questions, 16 Marks): Study the Trade Union Act, 1926, and the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947.

Crimes and Torts (16 Questions, 16 Marks): Dive into the general principles and exceptions of the Indian Penal Code and general principles of tort, defenses, joint liability, state liability for torts, and the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.

IPR & Other Laws (16 Questions, 16 Marks): Understand the Copyright Act, 1957; Patents Act, 2005; Environmental Protection Act, 1986; Human Rights and the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993; Information Technology Act, 2000; Right to Information Act 2005, and basics of Research Methodology.
