BOI Officer Recruitment Exam Pattern
The selection process for the roles you're interested in includes both an online examination and potentially a personal interview, based on the number of applicants or eligible candidates. The online exam structure is designed to test candidates on three main areas: English Language, Professional Knowledge relevant to the post, and General Awareness with special reference to the Banking Industry.
English Language:
- Maximum Marks: 25
- Duration: 30 minutes
- This section tests your grasp of the English language, including grammar, vocabulary, comprehension, and communication skills.
Professional Knowledge Relevant to the Post:
- Maximum Marks: 100
- Duration: 60 minutes
- This segment is tailored to assess your technical or professional expertise directly related to the job role you are applying for. It's crucial to have a strong understanding of the specific knowledge areas relevant to your desired position.
General Awareness with Special Reference to Banking Industry:
- Maximum Marks: 25
- Duration: 30 minutes
- This part evaluates your awareness of the banking industry, including current events, regulatory frameworks, banking terminology, and practices. A good grasp of recent developments and historical foundations within the banking sector is beneficial.
NEGATIVE MARKING
The penalty for wrong answers in the objective tests is an important factor to consider during your exam preparation and strategy. Here's how it works:
- For every incorrect answer, one-fourth (1/4th) of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted from your total score as a penalty.
- If you do not attempt a question, meaning you leave it blank without marking any answer, there will be no penalty for that question.
Interview
Interview Call: Candidates ranking high enough in the merit list and securing the minimum qualifying marks in the online tests will be called for a personal interview.
Direct Selection to Interview: In certain cases, the bank may decide to skip the online examination and directly shortlist candidates for the interview based on their qualifications, experience, and overall suitability.
Interview Marks: The interview carries a total of 100 marks.
Qualifying Marks for Interview: General/EWS category candidates must score at least 40% of the total interview marks, while SC/ST/OBC/PWD candidates need a minimum of 35% to qualify.
Shortlisting Ratio: The standard shortlisting ratio for interviews is 1:3, meaning three candidates are called for every vacancy. However, this ratio can be adjusted by the bank as per its discretion.
BOI Officer Recruitment Preparation Tips
English Language: Engage in regular reading of well-written English material, practice comprehension passages, and brush up on grammar and vocabulary.
Professional Knowledge: Depending on your field, dive deep into the subjects relevant to the post. Use textbooks, professional journals, online courses, and other resources to strengthen your command over your professional domain.
General Awareness: Stay updated with the latest news, especially relating to the financial and banking sector. Reading financial newspapers, magazines, and reliable online financial news portals can be very helpful. Understanding the history, policies, and basics of banking will also aid in this section.
Given the structure, focusing your preparation on these areas can help you perform well in the online examination phase of the selection process.
