Punjab Police Constable Exam Pattern & Selection Process

The selection process will be conducted in three stages as follows:

  1. Stage-I: This stage will involve two Computer Based Tests (CBT), namely Paper-I and Paper-II. Paper-II will be of a multiple-choice question format and will be purely qualifying in nature.

  2. Stage-II: This stage comprises the Physical Screening Test (PST) and the Physical Measurement Test (PMT), both of which are also qualifying in nature.

  3. Stage-III: In this stage, Document Scrutiny will be conducted.

STAGE - 1

Stage-I, the Computer Based Test, will consist of:

  • Paper-I: This paper will include 100 multiple-choice questions, each carrying one mark.
  • Paper-II: This paper will be a mandatory qualifying test in Punjabi language at the matriculation standard, consisting of 50 questions, each carrying one mark. A minimum of 50% marks is required to qualify in Paper-II. However, the marks obtained in this paper will not be considered for determining the merit.

STAGE - 2

STAGE-II: PHYSICAL SCREENING TEST AND PHYSICAL MEASUREMENT TEST

After determining the merit by normalizing the marks obtained in Paper-I and factoring in reservation for various categories, a sufficient number of candidates who have achieved the required minimum marks in Paper-I and qualified Paper-II will be shortlisted. 

These shortlisted candidates will proceed to Stage-II, which comprises the Physical Screening Test (PST) and the Physical Measurement Test (PMT). 

These tests will be conducted at designated venues, on specified dates and times.

PHYSICAL SCREENING TEST

The schedule for the Physical Screening Test (PST) and the Physical Measurement Test (PMT) will be published on the Recruitment Portal. Each candidate will receive a separate Admit Card indicating the date, time, and venue for the Stage-II tests. 

Candidates must download the Admit Card and bring a printed copy along with one of the prescribed Photo Identity Proofs (Aadhaar Card, Indian Driving License, PAN card, Voter Identity card, Indian Passport) for entry to the test venue. Note that no other Identity Proof will be accepted.

Physical Screening Test (PST) and Physical Measurement Test (PMT)

The Stage-II Examination will proceed in the following order:

  • Running (PST)
  • Long Jump (PST)
  • High Jump (PST)
  • Height Measurement (PMT)

The Physical Screening Test (PST), which is qualifying in nature, will include the following events:

For Male Candidates (including Ex-servicemen less than 35 years of age as on 01.01.2024):

  1. 1600 Meters Race to be completed in 6 minutes 30 seconds (only one chance).
  2. Long Jump of 3.80 Meters (3 chances).
  3. High Jump of 1.10 Meters (3 chances).
