Admission to M. Tech. Programme in Electronics & Communication Engineering (Microwaves) at The University of Burdwan

The University of Burdwan invites online applications for admission to the two-year full-time M. Tech. in Electronics and Communication Engineering (Microwaves) for the 2024-2026 session. This program, approved by AICTE, is conducted by the Department of Physics.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for this M. Tech. program, candidates must have:

• A B.E. or B. Tech. in Electronics, Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Radio Physics, or a related field, OR
• An M.Sc. in Electronics or Physics with Advanced Papers in Electronics.
• A minimum of 50% marks (45% for reserved category candidates) in aggregate.

Candidates awaiting their final results may also apply provisionally, provided they can produce their final results before the commencement of the interview.

Admission Categories

Applicants will be classified into three categories:

1. Category A: GATE-qualified B.E./B.Tech. candidates.
2. Category B: Sponsored candidates with at least two years of full-time work experience in a registered firm, industry, or R&D institution after meeting the basic eligibility criteria.
3. Category C: Non-GATE B.E./B.Tech. candidates.

Non-GATE candidates will be considered for admission only if seats remain vacant after admitting Category A and B candidates. An online test will be conducted for Category C candidates to shortlist them for admission.

Application Process

1. Application Fee: Candidates must first pay an application fee of Rs.450/- through the SBI Collect link provided here.
2. Online Form: After payment, candidates need to fill out the application form available on the university website or directly through this Google Form link.
   • Application forms will be accepted from 01.07.2024 to 16.07.2024 (5:00 pm).
3. Details to Fill: The transaction ID of the application fee payment must be inserted in the dedicated space on the Google Form.

Selection Criteria

• Category A: Selection will be based on GATE score (70%), marks in B.E./B.Tech. (10%), and performance in an online interview (20%).
• Category B (Sponsored): Selection will depend on performance in the online interview and relevant work experience.
• Category C: Selection will be based on marks in an online MCQ test (70%), marks in B.E./B.Tech. (10%), and performance in an online interview (20%).

• Guideline for Online MCQ Test (Category C): 18.07.2024 by 5:00 pm.
• Date of Online MCQ Test (Category C): 19.07.2024 at 10:00 am.
• Link for Online Interview: 19.07.2024 by 12:00 Noon.
• Date of Online Interview (Categories A, B & C): 19.07.2024 at 1:00 pm.
• Publication of Merit List: 23.07.2024.
• First List Admission Dates: 25.07.2024 - 29.07.2024 by 5:00 pm.
• Waitlist Admission Date: 31.07.2024 by 5:00 pm.

• Non-Sponsored Candidates: Rs.8,660/-
• Sponsored Candidates: Rs.18,660/-

Additional Information

• GATE Scholarship: Subject to availability and release of funds from AICTE.
• Anti-Ragging Affidavits: Required from all admitted students and their guardians.
• Project Work/Internship: A one-year project work/internship during the second year (Semester III & IV) is mandatory. The location will be decided by the department and is binding.
