List of Governors in India: In a significant move involving gubernatorial appointments and reshuffles, President Droupadi Murmu has appointed six new governors and reshuffled three, as announced in a communique from the Rashtrapati Bhavan.

New Appointments and Key Changes:

Telangana:
Former Tripura Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma has been appointed as the new governor of Telangana.

Jharkhand:
Former Union Minister Santosh Kumar Gangwar is the new governor, succeeding CP Radhakrishnan. Jharkhand, Maharashtra, and Haryana are slated for assembly elections later this year.

Maharashtra:
CP Radhakrishnan has been appointed the new governor, replacing Ramesh Bais.

Punjab:
Gulab Chand Kataria has been appointed as the governor of Punjab, replacing Banwarilal Purohit, who resigned earlier this year due to personal reasons.

Assam and Manipur:
Lakshman Prasad Acharya, the current governor of Sikkim, has been appointed as the governor of Assam and given additional charge of Manipur. He replaces Gulab Chand Kataria in Assam. Anusuiya Uikye has been serving as the governor of Manipur since February last year.

Sikkim:
Veteran BJP leader Om Prakash Mathur has been appointed as the new governor, succeeding Lakshman Prasad Acharya.

Puducherry:
Former IAS officer K Kailashnathan has been appointed as the Lieutenant Governor.

Rajasthan:
Senior BJP leader from Maharashtra, Haribhau Kisanrao Bagde, has been appointed as the governor, succeeding Kalraj Mishra.

Chhattisgarh and Meghalaya:
Former Assam lawmaker Ramen Deka and former Lok Sabha MP from Mysore in Karnataka CH Vijayashankar have been appointed as governors of Chhattisgarh and Meghalaya, respectively.

Reactions and Statements:

Assam:
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed confidence in Lakshman Prasad Acharya, stating, “Hon’ble Shri Laxman Acharya Ji has devoted his life to empowering the poor. He has a rich organisational and legislative experience with an excellent tenure as the Governor of Sikkim. I am confident he will be an outstanding Governor for our state.”

Punjab:
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann welcomed the new appointment, stating, “The president has appointed the new governor. We will welcome the new governor. We will work together.” He also commented on the previous governor Purohit’s tenure, mentioning an “atmosphere of conflict.”

Jharkhand:
Santosh Gangwar expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi upon his appointment as the new governor of poll-bound Jharkhand, stating, “The party has always given me everything without asking for it. Now they have expressed their trust in me by making me the Governor. I am also grateful to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for this.”

Rajasthan:
Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma congratulated Haribhau Kisanrao Bagde on his appointment, stating, “Under your patronage and guidance, Rajasthan state will rapidly progress towards becoming a developed Rajasthan.”
