UP ITI Eligibility 2024

UP ITI Age Criteria

As of August 1, 2024, the minimum age of the candidate should not be less than 14 years. Thus, the candidate should be born on or before July 31, 2010. There is no upper age limit. No relaxation will be granted in the minimum age limit.

  1. State Council of Vocation Training SCVT ITI Admission 2024. Candidates can apply online between 10/07/2024 to 04/08/2024.

UP ITI Health Criteria

Candidates seeking admission to trades in government/private industrial training institutes must be mentally and physically fit and free from any defect that could affect their ability to perform efficiently in their trade. 

A horizontal reservation of 4% of the total admission capacity is permissible for disabled and handicapped candidates. Only those candidates with a disability of 40% or more are eligible for this category. At the time of admission, candidates must present a certificate from the Chief Medical Officer of their district, certifying that they have at least 40% disability and are eligible for the benefits of this reservation. 

Before admitting such candidates, their suitability for the specific course will be assessed by an expert appointed by the Chief Medical Officer at the institute level. Each eye must be free from any defect when tested in daylight with or without glasses. 

Vision in both eyes should be 6/18 or 6/24 in one eye without glasses. One-eyed candidates, free from color blindness, are also eligible for selection.

UP ITI Reservation:

The reservation for admission to all government/private industrial training institutes in Uttar Pradesh, under the administrative control of the Department of Vocational Education, Skill Development, and Entrepreneurship, is as follows:

  1. Scheduled Caste (SC) candidates: 21% of the total admission seats in each trade.
  2. Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates: 2% of the total admission seats in each trade.
  3. Other Backward Classes (OBC) candidates: 27% of the total admission seats in each trade.
  4. Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) from categories other than those mentioned above: 10% of the total admission seats in each trade.

Important Instructions for EWS Reservation

Reservations for economically weaker sections (EWS) from the general category are provided as per Government Order No.-67/2019/1011/89-vya0shi0 and K0vi0vi0-2019-282(M)/2012TC dated June 28, 2019. Candidates who are eligible for this category should select "GENERAL EWS" while filling out the online application. Candidates are advised to obtain the latest reservation certificate from the competent authority while filling out the application form so that they can present it at the time of admission if selected.

UP ITI Eligibility Conditions for EWS Reservation

  • The candidate belongs to a caste that is not listed in the notified Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, and Other Backward Classes lists for Uttar Pradesh.
  • The total annual income of their family from all sources (salary, agriculture, business, profession, etc.) should be less than ₹8 lakh in the previous financial year.
  • The family should not own the following assets:
    • 5 acres of agricultural land or more.
    • A flat of 1000 square feet or more.
    • A residential plot of 100 square yards or more in a notified municipality.
    • A residential plot of 200 square yards or more outside a notified municipality.

Special provisions for Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes are provided in 84 government institutes under the Scheduled Caste Sub Plan/Special Component Plan (SCSP/SCP). In these institutes, 70% of the approved seats are reserved for Scheduled Caste/Tribe trainees, and 15% for Other Backward Classes.

UP ITI Horizontal Reservation

Candidates in the following categories are provided horizontal reservation, and they can avail only one type of horizontal reservation:

  1. Dependents (married or unmarried grandchildren) of freedom fighters: 2% of the total admission seats in each trade.
  2. Sons and daughters of retired or disabled defense personnel, personnel killed in action, or defense personnel posted in Uttar Pradesh: 5% of the total admission seats in each trade.
  3. Physically handicapped candidates with a disability of 40% or more: 4% of the total admission seats in each trade. They must present a certificate from the Chief Medical Officer of their district at the time of admission, certifying that they have at least 40% disability and are eligible for the benefits of this reservation. Before admission, their suitability for the specific course will be assessed by an expert appointed by the Chief Medical Officer at the institute level.
  4. Women candidates in trades other than those operated exclusively for women in government industrial training institutes: 20% of the total admission seats in each trade.

Candidates seeking the benefit of disability reservation should obtain information regarding the suitability for specific trades as per the guidelines issued by the Directorate General of Training, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India.

Preference Points

For admission to government ITIs, preference points are awarded as follows:

  1. State-level players certified by the relevant sports association are awarded 3 preference points.
  2. For employees or nominated persons of industries, 10% horizontal reservation is provided for admission without participating in the admission process, subject to the training capacity/available seats in the institutes. Employees not admitted under the reserved 10% seats can participate in the admission process and will be awarded 5 additional points based on their qualifying educational qualification marks.
  3. Employees dependent on government ITIs in the state are awarded 10 preference points as per Government Order No.-4495/89-vya0shi0 and K0vi0vi0-2017-7(199)/95TC-(1) dated February 15, 2018.
  4. Employees dependent on the State Vocational Training Council are awarded 5 preference points. Candidates eligible for more than one preference category can choose the highest preference.

Industry Employee Admission Policy

Employees or nominated persons working in industries registered under the Factories Act, 1948, for at least two years, with a nomination certificate from the industry, and proof of at least two years of full-time service, are eligible for admission. They must meet the eligibility criteria for admission to the designated trades under the Craftsmen Training Scheme in government ITIs. The existing reservation system at the state level for government ITIs will apply. In case of a higher number of applicants, preference will be given to candidates with more experience.

In government ITIs covered under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) scheme, the Institute Management Committee (IMC) is authorized to admit candidates to 20% of the seats. Within this 20% quota, 10% horizontal reservation is provided for industry employees/nominated persons.

Candidates who wish to benefit from horizontal reservation in the PPP scheme should apply through the IMC. If seats remain vacant after the first counseling session, the State Vocational Training Council, Uttar Pradesh, will have the authority to fill these seats.

Preference Points for UP Private ITIs

Preference points for admission to private ITIs are as follows:

  1. State-level players certified by the relevant sports association are awarded 3 preference points.

Government ITIs in Uttar Pradesh offer both NCVT (National Council for Vocational Training) and SCVT (State Council for Vocational Training) courses. Candidates do not need to fill out separate online application forms for NCVT and SCVT courses. Both options will be available in the online application form.

Candidates should carefully read the information booklet and fill out the online application form clearly. Incomplete or incorrect online applications will not be considered, and the State Vocational Training Council will not be responsible for such applications.

No amendments will be allowed in the online application form after submission, as per the instructions of the State Vocational Training Council. Candidates should keep four copies of the uploaded photo for use during admission. Keep a printout of the online application form for future reference.
