SSC JHT Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the SSC JHT exam, candidates must meet the following criteria:

a. Nationality:

  • The candidate must be a citizen of India or a subject of Nepal, Bhutan, or a Tibetan refugee who came to India before January 1, 1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India.

SSC JHT Educational Qualifications

1. Junior Hindi Translator / Junior Translator:

Option 1: Master’s degree from a recognized university in:

  • Hindi with English, or
  • English with Hindi as a compulsory or elective subject, or
  • Hindi or English as the medium of examination at the degree level.

Option 2: Master’s degree from a recognized university in any subject other than Hindi or English, with:
  • Hindi medium and English, or
  • English medium and Hindi as compulsory or elective subjects, or
  • Hindi or English as the medium of examination at the degree level.
Option 3: Master’s degree in any subject other than Hindi or English, with:
  • Hindi and English as compulsory or elective subjects, or
  • Either Hindi or English as the medium of examination and the other as a compulsory or elective subject at the degree level.

Plus, a recognized diploma or certificate course in translation from Hindi to English & vice versa, or

Two years of experience in translation work from Hindi to English and vice versa in Central or State Government offices, including Government of India Undertakings.

2. Senior Hindi Translator:

Option 1: Master’s degree from a recognized university in:

  • Hindi with English, or
  • English with Hindi as a compulsory or elective subject, or
  • Hindi or English as the medium of examination at the degree level.

Option 2: Master’s degree from a recognized university in any subject other than Hindi or English, with:

  • Hindi medium and English, or
  • English medium and Hindi as compulsory or elective subjects, or
  • Hindi or English as the medium of examination at the degree level.

Option 3: Master’s degree in any subject other than Hindi or English, with:

  • Hindi and English as compulsory or elective subjects, or

Either Hindi or English as the medium of examination and the other as a compulsory or elective subject at the degree level.

  • Plus: A recognized diploma or certificate course in translation from Hindi to English & vice versa, or
  • Experience: Three years of experience in translation work from Hindi to English and vice versa in Central or State Government offices, including Government of India Undertakings.
