Objective of the NALSA Internship Programme

  • Lok Adalat functioning

  • Alternative dispute resolution

  • Access to justice for vulnerable communities

Eligibility Criteria

Students who can apply for the NALSA Internship Programme-2026 include:

  • Students pursuing a Three-Year LL.B. Course, or

  • Students pursuing a Five-Year Integrated Law Course

  • The course must be from a recognized University/College/Institution

Preference Criteria

Although all eligible students may apply, preference is given to:

  • Students of 3rd to 5th year of the Five-Year Integrated Law Course

  • Students of 2nd to 3rd year of the Three-Year LL.B. Course 


Duration of Internship

  • The internship duration is one month (four weeks)

  • The internship starts from the 1st day of the selected month

  • It is a full-time, physical internship, not remote or part-time 


Application Procedure

Students interested in applying must follow the official online procedure only.

Required Documents

Applicants must upload the following documents while filling the online form:

  1. Curriculum Vitae (CV) / Resume

  2. Expression of Interest (EOI)

    • One page or shorter

    • Explaining interest in the internship and suitability

  3. No Objection Certificate (NOC)

    • Issued by Dean / HOD / Internship Committee / Appropriate Authority

    • Must mention name and semester/year of the course

Mode of Application

  • Applications are accepted only through online mode

  • The application form is available on the official NALSA website

  • No other mode of request will be entertained 

Application Timeline

  • The application link opens two months before the preceding month of internship

  • Example:

    • For January 2026 internship, forms will be available from
      1st September 2025 to 30th November 2025


Selection Process

  • Selection is done through a draw of lots

  • Final decision rests with the Competent Authority

  • The decision of NALSA is final and binding 


Internship Certificate

  • Interns receive a Certificate of Internship only after successful completion

  • 90% attendance is mandatory to be eligible for the certificate

  • No Letter of Recommendation (LoR) is issued by NALSA 


Internship Guidelines and Conditions

Students must carefully note the following rules:

  • No stipend, remuneration, TA/DA, or accommodation is provided

  • Interns must arrange their own stay

  • Office timing: 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM

  • Working days: Monday to Saturday (6 days a week)

  • Interns must carry their own laptops

  • Local travel to courts and offices is required

  • Students should not apply during college examinations

  • Dress code: Formal Black & White, as prescribed by the Bar Council of Delhi

  • Strict discipline and professional etiquette must be followed

  • Any misconduct may lead to termination of internship

  • Interns are not allowed to pursue any other course or work during internship

Orientation Programme

On the first day, interns attend an orientation session where they are introduced to:

  • Objectives of NALSA

  • Structure and functioning of legal services institutions

Study & Research

Interns receive access to:

  • SOPs

  • NALSA schemes and modules

  • Statistical reports

  • Legal services activity reports

Field Visits (Around 10 Days)

Interns gain practical exposure through visits to:

  • Delhi State Legal Services Authority

  • District Legal Services Authority

  • Legal Aid Defence Counsel Office

  • National Lok Adalat

  • Remand Courts

  • CAW Cells

  • DM Office and other institutions

Supreme Court Exposure

Interns also visit:

  • Mediation Centre at the Supreme Court of India

  • Supreme Court Library

  • Supreme Court Legal Services Committee

Conclusion of Internship

  • Interaction with NALSA officials
