The Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test, commonly referred to as GPAT 2024, is a crucial exam for pharmacy graduates seeking admission to M.Pharm programs. The National Testing Agency (NTA) organizes GPAT 2024 and it serves as a gateway for students to enter prestigious institutions. The registration for GPAT 2024 will commence online, allowing candidates to apply through the official GPAT 2024 portal.
Applicants aiming to appear for GPAT 2024 must ensure they meet the eligibility criteria which typically includes a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy. Preparing for GPAT 2024 requires a good grasp of subjects like Pharmacology, Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, and Pharmacognosy among others.
What is GPAT Exam?
GPAT is a national-level exam that grants scholarships to candidates who qualify for admission into the Master of Pharmacy (M.Pharm) course. Initially conducted by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) every year from 2010 to 2018, the responsibility shifted to the National Testing Agency (NTA) in 2019, following the Ministry of Education's directive. In response to a 2020 Supreme Court ruling, the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) took over the GPAT's administration and the associated scholarship disbursements. The ruling led to the removal of 'pharmacy' from AICTE’s scope, placing it under the Pharmacy Act, 1948. The PCI now collaborates with the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences to manage the GPAT.
