NEET PG 2024 Eligibility

Candidates in possession of MBBS degree or Provisional MBBS Pass Certificate recognized as per the provisions of the NMC Act, 2019 and the Post Graduate Medical Education Regulations, 2023.
Registration with the NMC/ the erstwhile Medical Council of India or State Medical Council is necessary.

Courses through NEET PG

NEET PG is a Single window entrance examination for admission to MD/MS/PG Diploma and Post MBBS DNB Courses, Direct 6 Year DrNB Courses & NBEMS Diploma Courses.

NEET PG Exam Pattern 2024

The examination shall be a multiple choice questions test delivered using computers network (CBT) as per scheme prescribed.

The examination consists of 200 Multiple Choice Questions, each presenting four response options or distractors, exclusively in the English language. Candidates must discern and select the correct, best, or most suitable response or answer from the provided options for each question. The total duration of the exam is 3 hours and 30 minutes, allowing examinees ample time to navigate through the questions and respond thoughtfully.

For the scoring system in the exam:

Each correct response will earn the candidate 4 marks.
Each incorrect response will result in a deduction of 1 mark.
Questions that are not attempted will not affect the score, resulting in zero marks being added or deducted.

NEET PG Syllabus 2024

The syllabus for the exam shall comprise of subject/knowledge area as per Graduate Medical Education Regulations issued by the erstwhile Medical Council of India with prior approval of the Govt of India.

NEET PG Exam Date

NEET-PG 2024 shall be conducted in a single day & single session as a computer based examination on 23rd June 2024.

NEET PG 2024 Age Limit

For NEET PG 2024, there is NO upper age limit, allowing candidates of any age to apply. Additionally, there are unlimited attempts permitted for the NEET PG exam, providing candidates with ample opportunities to qualify and pursue postgraduate medical education. This flexibility in age limit and attempts ensures that aspiring medical professionals can participate in the examination at their convenience, facilitating a fair and inclusive selection process for all eligible candidates.

NEET-PG 2024 Seat Reservation & Excluding Institutes

NEET-PG 2024 has been designated as the sole eligibility and entrance examination for enrolling in MD/MS/PG Diploma courses for the academic year 2024-25. This encompasses a comprehensive range of seats including:

All India 50% Quota Seats: Available across all states and union territories, facilitating a nationwide selection.
State Quota Seats: Specific to each state and union territory, catering to regional applicant pools.
Private Sector Participation: All private medical colleges, institutions, and universities, including deemed universities nationwide.
Armed Forces Medical Services Institutions: These seats are reserved for candidates from the armed forces.
Postgraduate Courses Under NBEMS: This includes Post MBBS DNB Courses, Direct 6-year DrNB Courses, and Post MBBS NBEMS Diploma Courses.

However, several prestigious medical institutions do not participate in the centralized admission for MD/MS seats through NEET-PG. These include:

Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh
Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research (JIPMER), Puducherry
National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS), Bengaluru
Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology, Trivandrum

For the session of 2024-25, no state government or private medical college/universities will conduct separate entrance exams for admission to their MD/MS/PG Diploma courses, making NEET-PG 2024 the primary pathway for medical postgraduate admissions.
